Angel Di Maria fined £1.76million and sentenced to a year in prison.

The Former Realmadrid and Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria has been sentenced to a year in prison after admitting to tax fraud resulting from his time at Real Madrid of which he was accused of 2 offences.

He is said to have evaded tax up to the tune of £1.14million during his four-year spell at the Spanish capital club.

He went on to join Manchester United In a record British transfer fee.

He has reportedly admitted to both counts of fraud and will pay a fine of £1.76million - avoiding a trial at the Spanish Supreme Court.

Despite being handed the prison sentence, it is unlikely that he will spend any time behind bars as sentences under two years in Spain are suspended as long as the offender has no prior criminal records.

He joins the long list of other stars been targeted by the Spanish Authorities as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi ( was handed a 21 month sentence) and Jose Mourinho have been previously accused of Tax evasion.
